The organization 40 Days for Life held an anti-abortion rally in front of the Planned Parenthood, on Feb. 11. Supporters of Planned Parenthood formed a counter protest to show their support of federal funding for the organization’s services.
Anti-abortion rallies were held across the nation to advocate for using tax dollars to fund federal community health centers instead of Planned Parenthood, according to CNN.
“I believe in supporting the right to life throughout all stages of life starting at conception and ending at natural death,” Hannah Dustman, Mizzou Students for Life member, said.
Several members of the 40 Days for Life organization spoke at the rally.
The counter-protest had a much larger turnout, with many of the supporters wearing pink and holding their signs backing Planned Parenthood. They set up before the anti-abortion rally and stayed after the anti-abortion rally ended. The members of the counter protest were out there for about three hours and the anti-abortion protest was there for about an hour and a half.
Planned Parenthood supporter Zettie Pollard said she has used their services.
“It does not have to be one or the other, you can love Jesus and love Planned Parenthood,” Pollard said.
Over five million Americans use Planned Parenthood as a source of health care, according to CNN.
