No. 17 Missouri softball (4-1) defeated USC Upstate (3-2) in the Charleston Southern Tournament finale on Sunday. Redshirt sophomore Madi Norman dominated for the Tigers with a complete game shutout and six strikeouts.

Norman has pitched in each of the Tigers’ wins so far this season and retired the final 10 batters she faced in the game. Norman did give up five hits including a double in the top of the third. However, a great throw from the outfield to catcher Kirsten Mack for the home plate putout canceled out the baserunner.

Missouri was getting shut out until the third inning when junior Paige Bange hit a solo home run for the Tigers’ only hit of the day.

Missouri’s next matchup is against South Dakota in the Arizona State Littlewood Classic on Feb. 17.
