20 match SEC win streak comes to an end against Ole Miss

Following their second win in the SEC and 11th win overall, the Missouri volleyball team traveled to Oxford, Miss. on Wednesday to face the 15-2 Ole Miss Rebels. The Tigers would come home with both of those streaks snapped, as the Rebels took the match in three sets.

In the first set, Mizzou got off to a quick start taking an 11-9 lead. Shortly after however, Ole Miss gained the lead eventually won the first set 25-18.

The second set modeled after the first. The Tigers seemed to have things under control with a 22-16 lead, just three points away from tying up the match, when the Rebels of Ole Miss struck back. Ole Miss scored 9 of the last ten points to take the second set 25-23.

In to the third set, the unlucky streak for Missouri continued. Mizzou roared through the TV timeout with a 15-13 lead, but by the time Mizzou got close to taking the set, Ole Miss took over and won the third 25-22 to win the match.

The result moves Mizzou to 2-1 in SEC play and 11-6 overall on the season.

Seniors Emily Wilson and Sarah Meister led the way for the Tigers. Wilson led the team with 13 kills, while Meister had 17 digs to make her career total 1,302 while at Mizzou.

Sophomore Loxley Keala also had a big part in the match by leading the team with 19 assists.

Mizzou next travels to Athens this Sunday to face off against the Georgia Bulldogs. The game will be available to watch on the SEC Network.
