It was supposed to be the most anticipated fight in recent history. It ended up falling flat in the eyes of many viewers. I am, of course, referring to the welterweight fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao that happened Friday, May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. While the fight itself was viewed as a disappointment, there were quite a few highlights from the weekend that left the Internet ablaze with memes and hilarious tweets. For your convenience, and my enjoyment, I have taken the liberty of gathering some of the most entertaining and WTF-worthy moments.

5. I’m not sure how Floyd Mayweather, Jr. decided on who would have the honor of being in his walk out entourage, but one can only assume the decision process closely resembled the one I use to get ready in the morning: Blindly reaching into the closet and grabbing the first thing I can find. Mayweather’s entourage, which is notorious for being quite an interesting mix, reached new levels of bizarre when he walked out with not only Justin Bieber, but the Burger King. Yes, that Burger King.

4. Not to be outdone, Manny Pacquiao also had an assortment of people in his ring walk entourage. Most notably, late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who was spotted wearing chains, a hat, and shirt that featured a gold pacman chomping down on images of opponent Floyd Mayweather. Kimmel begged Pacquiao to let him be in the posse by singing some of Manny’s entrance song in his native Tagalog language when Pacquiao was a guest on Kimmel’s late night last Thursday.

3. Before the fight could actually begin, as in every sporting event, the National Anthem must be sung. It was a huge honor bestowed on none other than Jamie Foxx. Odd choice, I know. Foxx was accompanied by an organ, and took more than a few liberties with the arrangement. While the performance was only two minutes long, it seemed to drag on for way too long due to numerous vocal runs, scatting, and even a few hallelujahs thrown it at the very end. To his credit, Foxx seemed on key for the majority of the song. Let’s make one thing clear: the man is a very talented singer. However, the whole performance left many perplexed.

2. Many were left confused not necessarily because of the way Jamie Foxx sang the National Anthem,  but because Beyoncé was sitting directly in the front row. Isn’t it just assumed that if Queen Bey is in the building, she should sing? Also in attendance was good friend to the Carters, Kanye West. One Twitter user mused that Mr. West should pull one of his infamous award show stunts and deem Beyoncé the real winner of the match. We wouldn’t argue, Kanye. Bey stole the show in her red jumpsuit with a serious plunging neckline.

1. When it actually came down to the fight, there isn’t much to discuss. Celebrities reacted with disappointment at just how uneventful the match was. Mayweather was declared the winner unanimously, but he probably could’ve won a track meet as well with the amount of running around the ring he did.

While the fight itself was boring to viewers, it is worth pointing out that 38-year-old Mayweather remains unbeaten, with a career record of 48-0. Whether or not Mayweather actually won is still disputed, and afterward Pacquiao said he felt as if he had truly won. I guess that’s up to you to decide.
