In their first match of the Boise State Invitational tournament the Mizzou Volleyball team [3-3] pulled off a very well-earned win in four sets over Sacramento State. The first set started off strong for the Tigers as they took off early and settled in with a healthy 17-11 lead; however, the strong-willed Hornets were able to come back and win the set 26-24.

The second set was fairly even throughout, with no more than a 5-point difference between the two teams. This time though, the Tigers were able to pull out the set win on a kill by senior Kira Larson, who finished with 11 kills on the day. The final score for the set was 25-20.

The third set was by far the best for the Tigers, who pulled ahead 12-4 and never gave up their lead. The strong play by the Tigers allowed Kira Larson to once again to score the crucial 25th point on a kill. The kill was due in large part to a well-placed set by fellow senior Courtney Eckenrode. The Hornets finished this third set with a score of 18 points.

In the fourth and final set of the match, the Tigers once again played a strong game and held the lead all the way, though it did not come easy. Sacramento State fought hard trying to force a fifth set and kept within 5 points of the Tigers the entire time. Unfortunately for them, the Tigers determination kept strong and they won the set 25-20, and in turn won the match.
