The Missouri Tigers season has come to an end with a 81-71 loss to the Auburn Tigers in the SEC Tournament. In a crazy back and forth game, the Missouri Tigers played really well and held their own, even taking the lead at one point in the second half, until Auburn pulled away towards the end of the game.

The first half started off with both teams playing strong defense. The Auburn Tigers rely on their three-point game but they started zero for eight from downtown. But the Missouri Tigers couldn’t take advantage of the slow start for Auburn. Although Mizzou has struggled to win games all year, at the start of the second half they gave everyone a legit thought they could pull off the big upset and move on in the SEC Tournament. After being down 32-30 at halftime, Mizzou started things off in the second half taking a quick lead and looking like legit NCAA Tournament contenders. Then Auburn started hitting their threes and locking up Mizzou’s offense, but never quite pulling much away from Mizzou until the very very end of the game.

It was the last time for Jordan Geist, Kevin Puryear and Adam Wolf to represent their school in a Mizzou uniform in an NCAA basketball game. It was a bittersweet ending for the three seniors; as it’s sad to see them walk off the court for one last time, but Tiger fans all over are proud of them for what they’ve done for Mizzou and excited to see what their future holds.

Jordan Geist went out with a bang. He finished off his last game with 25 points, three rebounds, and one assist. The game prior to yesterday’s bout, Geist put up a monsterous
game against Georgia with 30 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Geist ended his Tiger career with an incredible last two games.

The Missouri Tigers, who finished 15-17 and 5-13 in SEC play, will return to action on the basketball court next season with lots of promise and potential with their young players.
