The No. 16 Missouri women’s soccer team racked up another impressive conference victory, as the Tigers (12-2, 7-1) defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-7-1, 0-7-1) 2-0 at home Sunday afternoon.

The victory keeps the Tigers’ home winning streak alive with a record of 8-0 at Walton Stadium this season.

Mizzou took an early lead as Abi Raymer sent a strike past Mississippi State goalkeeper Skylar Rosson into the lower left corner of the goal. The score was the sixth on the year for the sophomore midfielder. Forward Junior Dominique Richardson obtained her first assist of the year on the play.

The Tigers continued to play well on offense in the first half, out-shooting the Bulldog’s 16-6. Richardson almost snagged a goal of her own as she booted the ball from over 30 yards away, catching Rosson of-guard, but it bounced off the left post.

Missouri carried its momentum into the second half, controlling the offensive tempo and outnumbering the Bulldogs in shots 20-5, making it 36-11 for the game. The Tigers also finished the game with seven more shots on goal.

At the 65th minute mark, senior forward Taiwo Adeshigbin ran with the ball down the right sideline to the right corner of the box and fired the ball past the Bulldogs keeper for her sixth goal of the year to put Mizzou up 2-0.

The Tigers spent the rest of the game attempting to stretch their lead, including a shot in the 69th minute by freshman Reagan Russell that hit off the crossbar and a strike by senior midfielder Haley Krentz that sailed over the goal.

McKenzie Sauerwein had a superb day in the net, tallying five saves and recording her sixth shutout this season. Rosson made eight saves for the Bulldogs, who are still looking for their first SEC win of the season.

The Tigers play their next match on the road as they head to Florida to play the No. 18 Gators at 7 p.m. Friday night.
