Saturday, February 20—

The Missouri softball team continued its domination of the competition this Friday against Elon winning 9-2.

This matchup featured a strong performance from Freshman Danielle Baumgartner on the pitching mound. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Baumgartner pitched six consecutive scoreless innings. This was her NCAA debut, and she established herself even alongside fierce pitching competition from teammates Paige Lowary and Tory Finucane.

The key moment of the game happened during Mizzou’s six-run inning in which they built a substantial lead they didn’t relinquish for the rest of the match.

Sophomore Amanda Sanchez had an excellent game, tying the game for the Tigers and scoring 2 RBIs. Junior Kirsten Mack and Senior Emily Crane both contributed with a 2-run single and a 2-run double, respectively. The forth inning sealed the victory for the Tigers thanks to their strong batters.

After this stunning victory, the Missouri softball team looks to continue battling it out at the Citrus Classic on Saturday, Feb. 20.
