Columbia residents protest police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile

The killing of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police officers in Louisiana and Minnesota sparked public demonstrations in cities across the United States, including Columbia, Mo.

Protesters walked through the University of Missouri campus and Columbia downtown area chanting “hey, hey, ho, ho, these racist cops have got to go.”

Columbia restaurant Café Berlin was closed in solidarity with the movement.

According to a post on Café Berlin’s Facebook page, their employees agreed to have the restaurant closed for the day.

Sterling’s death was captured on camera with a cell phone, according to CNN. Castile’s fiancé streamed the aftermath of his shooting on Facebook, according to CNN. Videos of both of these police shooting deaths have gone viral and received national media attention.
