Color was key during Tie-Dye Day on Friday, Sept. 26, where students participated in the one of the weekly “Free Crafternoons” offered by the MizzouCraft Studio.

Students brought everything from t-shirts to socks and pillowcases to the Craft Studio’s “Tie-Dye” afternoon on Friday. The only requirement was that it be white and ready to be transformed.

Participants first placed rubber bands on their items in order to make different tie-dye patterns. They then moved into the studio, where they chose a newspaper-covered table to begin working on their creations. Students were free to experiment with the colored dyes, mixing and matching to create their own unique designs.

MU sophomore Tiana Glads enjoyed the creative break from classes.

“I’m a really Pinterest-avid person so this is something that I really wanted to do. I come here every Friday because it’s what I use to decompress. It’s also a place where I can make new friends and make new things for my apartment” said Glads.

Some students wore gloves, while others chose to get their hands dirty. After a few days and a cold wash, these artists will have a new and colorful addition to their wardrobes.

Next week’s Crafternoon theme is mini notebooks.
