Cuartero’s Performance Preserves Mizzou Golf’s Perfect Mark

Sunday, October 14-

The No. 12 Missouri men’s golf team remained undefeated this weekend with another first place finish at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.

Emilio Cuartero, the junior from Spain led the way for the Tigers thanks to his best weekend of the season. He finished a personal best third overall individually behind a 210 finish through three rounds, also his best of the season.

The Tigers came into the third and final day at five-under par as a team, tied for third with Memphis, behind Tennessee (nine-under par) and Virginia (six-under par). Missouri’s own Jace Long, currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, came out of the first two rounds at third individually.

On Sunday it was all about Cuartero though, as he shot a team best 69 to cap off his impressive weekend. The impressive score helped Missouri card a 286 on the last day and Tennessee lost its lead with a 291 on Sunday.

Every stroke was needed as Mizzou finished the weekend with a one-stroke lead over the Volunteers to take the crown.

The Tigers will be back on the course in two weeks when they travel to Dallas, Texas, for the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. The tournament starts October 29 and the team will hope to continue its impressive streak.
