The 19th ranked Missouri Tigers took on the 1-6 New Orleans Privateers on Saturday at the Mizzou Arena. The Tigers, after dropping their season opener to Western Kentucky, had won six in a row coming into this game. On top of this, the Tigers were undefeated at home on the season. The winning trend continued for MU as the Tigers swept the floor with the Privateers, absolutely dominating en route to 81 to 45 victory.

Mizzou forced New Orleans to turn the ball over twenty times, leading to twenty-seven points off turnovers. MU’s bench also played a massive factor in the win as the Tigers recorded forty bench points. Mizzou’s posts were amazing on defense as they help the Privateers to only fourteen points in the paint. The Tigers also scored well down low, finishing with thirty-six points in the paint. One of the many aspects of the game where the Tigers dominated.

For the Privateers, Randi Brown, the team’s only player to average double-digit scoring this season, shot atrocious against MU. She finished a combined 3 for 22 from the floor in twenty-six minutes of play. Mariah Wright led New Orleans with scoring as she recorded twelve points on 4 for 7 shooting.

For the Tigers, Sophie Cunningham led all scorers on the night, shooting 6 for 7 from the floor and dropping eighteen points in just nineteen minutes of play. Those eighteen points would help Sophie move to 27th on the Tiger’s all-time scoring list. Cierra Porter also played well for MU, dropping nine points.

Mizzou will next match up against Saint Louis on Friday in Mizzou Arena.
