DWTS Week 3: All-Stars in Charge

Tuesday, October 9-

In preparation for the double elimination this week, the all-stars were placed in creative control. The task was to pick a favorite routine performed by previous contestants and revamp them to an all-star level.

There are two couples tied for first place this week with a score of 27/30. Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani danced the samba and included tricks never seen before on “Dancing with the Stars.” Comments from the judges included “fantastic” and “a knockout.” Tied with Rycroft and Dovolani is couple Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy. Monaco and Chmerkovskiy danced a routine of the paso doble known by season four couple Max Chmerkovskiy and Laila Ali. Judges commended the couple and their chemistry.

Coming in third place is couple Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough with a score of 26.5/30. Reviving one of Helio Castroneves’ quickstep routines from season five, Johnson and Hough “broke the rules” on purpose. Even so, they received a standing ovation by the audience and commemoration for performing one of the best dances out of all fifteen seasons.

Host Tom Bergeron announced in between performances that during elimination this week, couples will be picking dances for their competitors for next week. It was stressed that the couples determine their “strategy” before the results show. Another announcement was that Paula Abdul would be a guest host for next week.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas landed at the bottom of the leaderboard for the second week in a row. The couple had a big fight during rehearsals this week when Palin accused Ballas of “not caring” because he was not paired up with his former, more successful, partners Johnson and Sabrina Bryan. Palin walked out of rehearsals after their altercation.

There is a double elimination for this week. As for my predictions, Bristol Palin and Emmitt Smith will get eliminated from the competition.

A special “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: An Exclusive Encore” with a recap of all this week’s performances will air at 7 pm central time, Tuesday, October 9. The results show will air right after the recap at 8 pm central time on Tuesday, October 9.
