DWTS Week 5: No Elimination

Monday, Oct. 29-

With no elimination this week, the all-stars pick up a different challenge of group dances with their competitors.

The theme for this week’s dances were the all-stars guilty pleasure songs, ranging from musical favorites to current top hits.

Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel danced to the “Cinderella” classic “So This is Love.” Bryan upheld the challenge of showing vulnerability throughout the dance. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba stated she “didn’t get the vulnerability.”

Kirstie Alley showed emotion during rehearsals due to the complication of her quickstep to “Mrs. Robinson.” Despite the complications, Alley received her highest individual score of the season.

Apolo Ohno was hoping this to be his “comeback dance” after being in jeopardy last week. Ohno’s guilty pleasure song of “Give It to Me Baby” had the couple dancing the samba. Judge Inaba was not feeling it while Judge Goodman believed there to be too much thrusting.

During week four’s elimination, the competitors teamed up and selected songs to perform during the group dances. Team dances are freestyle, and lifts are permitted.

Shawn Johnson, Melissa Rycroft, Sabrina Bryan, and Apolo Ohno danced to hit “Call Me Maybe” with a cheerleader and football theme. Judge Len Goodman declared the dance to be a “touchdown.”

Alley, Kelly Monaco, Gilles Marini, and Emmitt Smith danced to “Gangnam Style.” All judges agreed that the dance was humorous and the craziest number they have ever seen.

Scores from their individual and group dances combine with scores for next week and votes for both weeks.
