DWTS Week Two: Jive and Quickstep

Monday, October 1-

After last week’s elimination, twelve contestants remain to quickstep or jive through tough competition, and some injuries.

Gilles Marini suffered from a back injury from rehearsal this week, but chose to still perform the jive as the final act of the night. He was able to still land in the second place position, being commended by judge Carrie Ann Inaba for having the “best kicks of the night.”

It only took the second week to give out the score of a 9, which Sabrina Bryan had the honors of receiving after her quickstep that also put her on top of the leaderboard. Bryan injured her arm during rehearsal this week while falling from practicing a move that involved quickly moving up a flight of stairs. Bryan was left with the decision of whether or not to keep the move in their routine for the final performance. She decided to keep the move in the routine and executed it successfully during her performance.

The pressure seemed to affect the top and bottom of last week’s leaderboard as Emmitt Smith and Bristol Palin received lower scores this week. Palin, criticized by the judges for breaking hold during her jive, scored 18/30 compared to her score of 19.5/30 last weeks. The judges commented on Smith’s lack of improvement compared to competitors, lowering his top score from last week of a 24.5/30 to 22.5/30.

As for my predictions for the bottom three, I believe it will be Bristol Palin, Kirstie Alley, and Kelly Monaco. Palin will be the all-star eliminated.

The results show is at 7 pm central time Tuesday, October 3, on ABC.

Here are the scores for this week:

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani- 23.5/30

Apolo Ohno and Karina Smirnoff- 24.5/30
