It is finally the holiday season.

With the colder months approaching, now is the perfect time to cozy inside with a lighthearted Christmas movie. In order to lighten the spirit of the holidays in a time of uncertainty, here is a guide to the old and new seasonal obsessions. With that being said, here are some streamable flicks that could just do the trick.

Happiest Season

“Happiest Season” strives to rewrite the traditional Christmas movie by focusing on a lesbian couple that goes home for the holiday. The plot follows the love story of Abby (Kristen Stewart) and Harper (Mackenzie Davis). Abby learns at the last minute that Harper is still closeted to her family, whom they are visiting for Christmas. Her plans to propose to Harper at the family Christmas party suddenly become more difficult than expected.

The Christmas Chronicles 2

“The Christmas Chronicles 2” follows a cynical teenager that unexpectedly reunites with Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) after a mysterious troublemaker threatens to cancel Christmas forever. It is a perfect holiday blend of action, adventure, comedy, and drama.

“Holidate” follows two strangers, Sloane (Emma Roberts) and Jackson (Luke Bracey), that are tired of facing the criticism and chaos of being single on holidays. The two agree to be dates for all holiday celebrations – no romance, just fun. As they bond over their mutual distaste for the cheesiness that accompanies the holiday season, they may just graduate from “holidates” to couple status.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

“Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey” follows Jeronicus Jangle (Forest Whitaker), a toy maker that has finished a masterpiece that could change Christmas forever. However, there is a rival toymaker (Keegan-Michael Keys) that wishes to steal the toy.

Operation Christmas Drop

“Operation Christmas Drop” follows Erica (Kat Graham), a congressional aide that lacks Christmas spirit, sent to the islands to determine if Operation Christmas Drop is worth the money. With the help of an Air Force captain (Alexander Ludwig) and a festive adventure, she discovers Christmas miracles do exist.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

In this live-action adaptation of a favorite children’s tale by Dr. Seuss, the reclusive Grinch (Jim Carrey) decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville. Reluctantly, the Grinch comes down from his mountaintop home and sneaks into town to swipe everything Christmas-related from the Whos. However, the bitter grump’s plans go awry when he encounters a sweet girl, Cindy Lou Who.

Home Alone

When his parents accidentally leave Kevin McAllister (Macaulay Culkin) home alone for Christmas, he has a luxurious house to himself with free ice cream, pizza and R-rated gangster movies. Things start to heat up when two crooks try to rob the house and Kevin uses his limited resources to fight back.

When he was a baby, Buddy (Will Ferrell) was accidentally transported to the North Pole and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. As an adult, Buddy decides to travel to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father. He finds that his real father, Walter (James Caan), is a cynical businessman. While in the city, Buddy works to spread the gift of holiday cheer.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Amazon Prime

As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas with his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children. He tries to get everything in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things don’t go as planned. His rowdy cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and turn Clark’s holiday expectations upside down.

The Santa Clause

In “The Santa Clause”, Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) accidentally causes Santa Claus to slip off the roof, so he and his son Charlie (Eric Lloyd) finish Santa’s sleigh ride that night. Little did he know, by putting on the red suit, he entered into the “Santa Clause” which means he takes on the new role of Santa. Overnight he gains 100 pounds, a white beard and is forced to deal with his new reality.
