Fischer Lone Cross Country Competitor to Advance to NCAA Championships

The Mizzou men’s and women’s cross country teams placed eighth and sixth, respectively, at the NCAA Midwest Regional cross country meet in Ames, Iowa. Both teams competed against powerhouses Iowa State and Oklahoma State.

The men’s team finished with an overall pack time of 2:08.2. Hayden Legg closed out his career at Mizzou with a 22nd place finish overall and a time of 31:00.4 in the men’s 10K. T.J. Carey, named SEC freshman of the year, finished in 34th place, crossing the finish line in 31:13.3. Drew White finished his season in 47th place (31:22.4), Dam Dickerson crossed the finish line in 54th (31:31.1), and Tyler Schneider finished in 55th, just 0:00.1 seconds behind Dickerson.

Kaitlyn Fischer surged through the finish first for Mizzou with freshman Nicole Mello following suit at 21:44.6, in 56th place overall. Courtney Brown ran close a 21:44.7 for 57th place.

Kaitlyn Fischer, who has finished first for Mizzou in five of six meets she has raced in, ran the women’s 6K in 20:26.4, claiming sixth place overall. Now Fischer looks ahead to the final test of the 2013 cross country season when the gun sounds off Saturday, Nov. 23 at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, IN.
