The Florida Gators stunned the Mizzou Tigers last night in Gainesville with a 3-2 victory. Coming off of a tie against Ole Miss their last time out, the Tigers are now 0-1-1 in SEC play this season.

The matchup was tough at first, as the Gators found themselves with a two-goal lead for a majority of the night. It wasn’t until there were 25 minutes when Mizzou attempted to muster a comeback. Junior Macy Trujillo scored her second goal of the season in the 65’, pulling the Tigers to a one score deficit at 2-1. But in the 77’, Florida struck once again and extended the margin to two goals. Senior Sarah Luebbert finished the night with three total points including an assist on Trujillo’s goal and a score of her own, both in the second half. Luebbert’s goal came on a penalty kick with 10 minutes, as she drilled the shot for the Tigers final goal. Mizzou only had six total shots on net, with four of them coming in the second half. Also of note, Luebbert continues to pad her statistics for what has been a stellar season. She now has five goals and four assists, both of which lead the team for the time being. And with her made penalty kick, Luebbert is 2-for-2 in PK this season, and 3-for-4 over her career.

The Tigers, now 6-3-1, will look to regain momentum as they take on another SEC opponent in the Georgia Bulldogs (4-4-2) in Columbia, Missouri. Kickoff is at 4pm CT with a very special Pups on the Pitch game.
