The smell of foods from around the world filled the Student Center for the International Welcome Party.

Tables were set up with traditional foods and decorated displays. The event was open to MU students as well as the general public. They were given a plate and utensils and sent on their way to try as many different foods as they could eat.

The 15 different international organizations strived for inclusivity throughout the night.

“The [international] community is growing and growing each year […] and we are ready to share our culture with everyone,” President of the Missouri International Student Council Sazanka Idiris said. “We’re open to the American students asking us about our culture, but at the same time we want to know about your cultures too.”

The Senior Chair of the International Programming Committee for the Department of Student Activities, Grace Bommel, said there is a support system just by being international students. This was shown throughout the event as members of the international organizations took turns leaving their tables to go try the food of other organizations.

The next event is the International Showcase where multiple international organizations will preform a cultural dance or act unique to their county. The showcase is open to the public.
