Jennifer Lawrence Nude Photo Leak

In the past few weeks there has been an outbreak of celebrity nude pictures being leaked into the public. One of the more famous victims is Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, who recently spoke out about her ordeal.

“It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime,” She said. “Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it. It’s so beyond me.”

After taking time to recover emotionally from this horrific experience, Lawrence has decided to take a stand. She is making it clear that she, and any other women who have been in her situation, are victims of a crime, and shouldn’t be blamed or made to feel guilty.

“I started to write an apology, but I don’t have anything to say I’m sorry for.” Lawrence said. “I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he’s going to look at you.”

Lawrence’s experience is causing people to start looking at so-called “scandals” in a new way. It is shedding light on the fact that women should feel that they have control over their own bodies, and they should not be shamed for expressing their sexuality.

“It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting.” Lawrence said. “I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world. ”

Kaitlyn Ingersoll from Mizzou’s Feminist Student Union said that Jennifer Lawrence is completely right.

“I think it’s a real shame that we are very comfortable with the idea of leaked nudes,” Ingersoll said. “It is a sex crime. She did not let anyone see those photos and they were stolen from her.”

This traumatic crime caused Lawrence a great amount of stress and sadness, but she is now starting to put herself back together.

“Time does heal, you know,” she said. “I’m not crying about it anymore. I can’t be angry anymore, I need to just find my own peace.”

After hearing about this type of event from a victim’s perspective and being told how hard it can be on that person, we should all make a conscious effort to not participate in any sex crimes, such as looking at stolen pictures or sharing nudes without the person’s consent. It seems like it’s not a big deal, but it hurts and embarrasses the victim and can cause huge problems for the person at fault.
