Every person in the arena was on his or her feet at Mizzou Arena on Thursday night with 1:30 left in the game and the Lady Tigers tied 64-64 with Florida. As the final moments ticked away, Missouri was able to hold on and come up victorious in its nail-biting 69-64 win over the Gators.

The star of the evening was senior standout Sydney Crafton who rallied for four straight points for the Tigers at the end. Behind Crafton’s clutch performance, her team pulled out the victory, bringing Coach Robin Pingeton’s all-time win total at Mizzou to 40.

Following in the footsteps of Crafton, freshman Lianna Doty was not afraid to step up and play with the big dogs. Leading the team, she recorded 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Center Liz Smith pulled her weight as well with 15 points and six off boards. Once again Mizzou proved its depth and versatility with six players scoring eight or more on the night.

Mizzou came out strong, taking an early lead in the first half. The Lady Gators answered with a surge of power however, going on a 14-0 run to end the first half with a slim two-point lead. Florida began to build up a bit of a lead mid-second half, but Mizzou answered with a 14-0 point run of its own. The momentum was just what the doctor ordered for the Tigers, giving them the boost they needed to finish down the stretch.

Keeping the audience on the edge of its seats, the home team kept the crowd guessing until the very end. Pulling off its 14th win of the season, Mizzou now has the most wins in any season since the 2006-07 season in which they tallied 17 total wins.

The Lady Tigers move on to their next showdown at home against the Tennessee Lady Vols at 1 p.m. Sunday.
