The Missouri Tigers (5-7-2, 2-3-1) fell to the Tigers of LSU (8-5-1, 2-3-1) Sunday afternoon in Baton Rouge by the score of 2-1. The loss drops the Mizzou Soccer team to under .500 in the conference, while LSU gets one step closer to .500 in conference play, improving from 1-3-1 to 2-3-1.

Missouri was behind all game as LSU started off hot, scoring both of their two goals in the first half. Marlena Cutura started the scoring for LSU in the seventh minute with her third goal of the season. That goal was followed by Molly Thompson, who scored for the second time this season in the 22nd minute. Overall, LSU dominated the play in the first half, doubling Mizzou up on shots 12-6.

In the second half, it was the Missouri Tigers that came out and played the strong offensive game. But it was not until the 87th minute when the freshman Julissa Cisnero scored off an assist from Peyton Joseph, Missouri’s first and only goal of the game.

Mizzou was the team doubling up LSU’s shot attempts in the second half, ten to five. In the full game, LSU had eight shots on goal to Mizzou’s six. Both teams were even on saves with six and corners with five. Missouri ended the game with seven fouls while LSU had four.

The Missouri Tigers get a week to prepare for their next game against Auburn (10-3-1, 2-3-1). Luckily for Mizzou,they’re at home for this battle of Tigers on Sunday October, 14th 2 p.m. in Columbia at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.
