Mizzou men’s golf teed off Saturday and Sunday placing 9 out of 15 teams at the Suntrust Gator Invitational.

The Tigers shot a collective 858 over the three rounds of golf good for 18-over-par as a team. South Florida won the tournament, shooting 22-under-par, followed by Vanderbilt (-14) and the host Gators (-13).

The Tigers were led by sophomore Hayden Buckley finishing tied for 14th place at the tournament by shooting a 1-under-par (68-69-72 — 209). Buckley finished two of his three rounds below par.

Other notable performers were junior Euan Walker and freshman Matt Echelmeier, who shared the 40th spot after shooting 7-over-par. Walker got off to a slow start shooting a 75 on the first day. However, he rebounded well by shooting consecutive 71s Sunday. Echelmeier was consistent both days posting similar scores in all three rounds (73-73-71).

Junior Linus Lilliedahl finished third among his fellow Tiger golfers and finished tied for 46th overall, shooting 9-over-par for the tournament. Lilliedahl improved each round he played (75-73-71).

Lastly, from the starting five was redshirt senior Wilson Sundvold, who finished tied for 59th with a score of 12-over-par. Sundvold shot a 70 during the second round of play, which was the lowest round of any Tiger during the tournament. However, a closing round of 78 pushed him down the leaderboard.

The Tigers’ next action will come at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Oregon, on Sunday, March 6-8.
