The Mizzou Tigers men’s golf team wrapped up its fall campaign at the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic from November 2-4. Thus far, the Tigers scored two wins this fall and in their final event of the season, finished tied for third.

Mizzou finished fourth at this event in 2013. The event took place at the Turtle Point Gold Club, run by Charleston Southern University. The course is a par 72 and features some of the best teams in the country.

The Tigers teed off the first round on Sunday morning with Hayden Buckley. In his first career start, Buckley shot two under par with two birdies to lead the team.

Performances by Wilson Sundvold, Evan Walker and Ryan Zech highlighted the first day. Missouri finished the first round one over par and held second place heading into the second round.

The second round of the Classic proved to be frustrating for all the golfers that participated in day two. After two days, the Tigers were 11 over par and only four strokes behind the leader, the 37th ranked team in the nation, Winthrop.

Zech performed well for the Tigers, shooting one under par and moved to sixth in the standings. Walker remained in 14th-the same spot he saw himself after day one- while Buckley and Sundvold still stood in the top 30 for the Tigers.

Mizzou got to work on the final round bright and early looking to make its move and bring home a victory. Buckley had another fantastic round of golf on Tuesday and finished 23rd in the tournament. It was the freshman’s first top 25 finish of his collegiate career. Sundvold, who has never finished outside the top 40 of an event this season, finished in the top 30 for the Tigers along with Zech.

Mizzou dropped in the standings during their final day of play but were able to fight back to finish tied for third with Marquette. Winthrop was able to take the tournament victory.

Although the fall season is over for Mizzou’s men’s golf team, they will have a quick turnaround they will have a quick turnaround in the spring. The team first participates in the Snowman Getaway in Goodyear, Ariz., Feb. 22-24, 2015.
