The Mizzou Women’s Volleyball team pulled out one of their finest victories of the season this past Sunday at the Hearnes Center, as they overcame a two-set deficit against SEC opponent Texas A&M (16-25, 17-25, 25-18, 31-29, 15-12) to win the match. The Tigers have reached double-digits in the win column this season, as they improved to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the SEC with this win.

The Tigers got off to a bit of a slow start Sunday afternoon, as the Aggies jumped out to a convincing early lead with a dominant 13-5 run in the first set. The second set was much of the same, as A&M jumped out to another lead and never looked back, taking the second set easily as things were looking bleak for the Tigers heading to the third set.

A third set turnaround for Mizzou put the Tigers right back into the swing of things though, as impact player Kylie Deberg led the way for the Tigers yet again, as she racked up 23 kills and a .304 hitting percentage in the game. Deberg has been red hot over the last two weeks, as she tallied her fifth consecutive match with 20+ kills. Setter Andrea Fuentes also chipped in with 51 assists and a career-high five kills on the game.

The Tigers would scratch and claw all the way back as they battled through a highly-contested end of set four, including two match points for the Aggies, before sending the game to a winner-take-all fifth set. After a huge 5-0 run in the early stages of set five, the Tigers never relinquished the lead again as they finished off the Aggies 15-12 for a thrilling comeback and a huge win in front of an appreciative home crowd at the Hearnes Center. The team looks to keep this momentum going, as another home game against the Ole Miss Rebels awaits on Wednesday night at the Hearnes Center.
