The Missouri Tigers men’s track and field showed that they might be peaking late in the season with eight top ten finishes at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, MO.

The field events were swept by the Tigers with Roberto Vilches, Will Fife and Avery Carter all finishing first in their events.

Vilches, a freshman, came up big for the Tigers in the long jump in his season debut with a jump of 7.82 meters, 25 feet 8 inches. That jump is fourth in program history and ranks 11th nationally for this season.

Redshirt senior Will Fife won the shot put with a throw of 18.37 meters, 60 feet 3.25 inches.

Fellow redshirt senior Avery Carter won the weight throw with a toss of 19.34 meters, 63 feet 5.5 inches.

The Tigers brought more than just the throwers in the meet with seven runners competing in five events.

Sophomore Jason Edwards and Cason Suggs both competed in the 200 meter dash. Edwards finished 10th with a time of 23.14 seconds and Suggs finished 20th with a time of 24.35 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, redshirt sophomore Robert Kulhmann set a personal record with a time of 51.04 seconds, which is also a new personal record. Freshman Cason Suggs also set a PR in the event finishing 13th overall with a time of 53.34 seconds.

The Tigers had redshirt Sophomore Dylan Quisenberry in the open 800 meter run. Quisenberry finished second overall with a time of 1:55.7.

The mile runners for the Tigers were redshirt sophomore Justin Loquercio, who had a time of 4.18.15 minutes, which was good for both third overall and a new personal record.

Next for the Tigers is the SEC indoor championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on February 22 and 23.
