Mizzou volleyball dropped to a record of 12-9 friday evening with a loss to LSU in three straight sets (19-25, 20-25, 19-25). This loss snaps the Tigers 12-match home SEC winning streak, the longest active streak in the conference.

In the first set, Mizzou managed to keep the score tied at 14 until LSU began to pull away. The Tigers even used two timeouts to try to slow down LSU, but it wasn’t enough. LSU went on a 9-2 run to make the score 23-16, eventually winning the set.

Like the first, the second set remained even early. LSU then took control and led for the rest of the set, creating a deficit as large as seven points in an eventual set victory.

The third set was tough fought by both teams, with LSU clinging on to a one-point lead at 18-17. LSU then began pulling away late getting seven of the last nine scores by both teams to finish the set with a 19-25 score.

Even with the loss, some Tigers still had nice outings including freshman Kasey Reuter, who in her first career start managed to rack up a career-high nine kills on .412 hitting.

Sophomore Carly Kan also put forward a decent performance with 12 kills and eight digs. Sophomore Julia Towler performed well with five kills on .571 hitting and two blocks on the night. Senior Whitney Little earned four kills and two blocks.

Senior libero Sarah Meister had decent night with 12 digs, leading the 10 other Tigers that manage to record a dig. Loxley Keala and Ali Kreklow each had 15 assists. Overall Mizzou only managed to hit .218 hitting with 38 kills.

LSU All-SEC middle Briana Holman could not be stopped Friday night tallying 12 kills on .611 and match-high of five blocks. She led LSU to a .317 hitting and 44 kills.

Mizzou volleyball looks to comeback with a win Sunday at Mississippi State at 1 p.m. on SEC Network.
