The Missouri Tigers wrestling squad got their first chance to show off their team this year on Saturday, October 18th in the preseason Black and Gold Scrimmage. The 9 AM event at the Hearnes Center was free for fans which allowed for people to pack the house and get excited for the upcoming wrestling season. The Gold team came out victorious, winning 23-20 but head coach Brian Smith was more impressed with the young talent he saw. Smith particularly pointed out redshirt freshman Peyton Mocco in the 165-pound weight class. Mocco was able to defeat a senior head-to-head on the mat Saturday morning, perhaps the most impressive performance of the day.

Redshirt Senior Connor Flynn had the quote of the day saying: “We just want to go wrestle other people.” After a long and rewarding offseason of training, Mizzou gets their first opportunity to do just that November 2nd as they travel to Blacksburg, Virginia for their season opener against Virginia Tech.
