The sixth ranked Missouri Tigers Wrestling team hosted the Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville (SIU-E) Cougars on December 9th at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers were looking to extend their dual winning streak to 24 and trying to add their 10th straight MAC dual win. They did so in convincing fashion, notching a 48-0 victory.

The Tigers redshirt junior Jaydin Eierman (141 lbs.) started the day with getting his 4th pin of the season. After the Cougars forfeited its match at the 149-pound weight class, it was nothing but domination for the Tigers. The Tigers wrestled five freshman and still managed to win all 10 matches on the day. Missouri was in luck as they picked up bonus point wins after the redshirt senior Daniel Lewis (174 lbs.) marked his fifth pin of the season. The Tigers lead was extended to 30-0 after Dylan Wisman forced back-to-back falls, pinning the Cougars’ Sergio Villalobos. The Tigers Wyatt Koelling picked up his first win by major decision of the season at the 197-weight class. The Tigers earned more points at the heavyweight class as the Tigers true freshman Zach Elam earned an 11-1 major decision win. Elam now has won nine straight matches.

This win against SIU-E was Mizzou’s first shutout dual win since their November 2017 matches against Central Missouri and Missouri Valley. The Missouri Tigers now have a week off as they prepare for the University of Buffalo, who travels to Columbia to take on the Tigers. The match will be hosted at the Hearnes Center on December 12th at 12 p.m.
