Mizzou faced off against Utah on Saturday at the Kleber Bank College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mizzou, who had lost their previous two games, was looking to stay above .500 ahead of their fifth game of the season against Utah. This would be their second out of five games in the tournament.

Junior, Konner Ash, took the mound to start for the Tigers. Ash came into the game with a 5.40 ERA after pitching five innings in Mizzou’s 12-inning win against Jacksonville State on February 15th.

Mizzou’s Peter Zimmerman put the first run on the board in the second inning with a solo home run to left field, followed by another solo home run by Brandt Belk. Mizzou led two to zero in at the end of second inning. Utah responded in the fourth as Tom scored off of Zavolta’s single to left field. They were able to tie the game in the fifth as Kiernan drove in Thompson.

Ash was able to stay in for Mizzou and keep Utah from taking the lead. This allowed Mizzou to take the lead back in the sixth when Belk flied out to right field to drive McDaniel in. Mizzou would be able to hold on to this lead and win the game three to two. Mizzou will finish out their tournament with two games against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and one game against McNeese State.
