Mizzou came into Tuesday’s contest at SIU-Edwardsville hoping to push their two game winning streak to three. Despite falling behind 2-0, the Tigers came back to do just that, coming away with a 10-3 victory.

The Tigers started Tommy Springer, who went 5.0 innings and picked up the win, improving to 3-0 on the season. In his five innings of work he gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out three Cougars in only 69 pitches. The Cougars started Collin Baumgartner, who ended up only pitching one inning. Michael Shereyk took the loss for the Cougars, giving up nine runs in five innings.

The Tigers gave up the first two runs of the game in the first inning with two RBI singles by Dustin Woodcock and Peyton Cordova-Smith. Missouri would respond with two runs in the second inning coming from a sacrifice fly by Josh Holt Jr. and an RBI walk by Chris Cornelius to tie the game at two runs apiece.

The Cougars responded in the next inning with a sacrifice fly by Brock Weimer to retake the lead at 3-2.
The Tigers would then blow the game wide open scoring four runs in the fourth with two run home runs by Kameron Misner and Austin James to put the lead up to 6-3.

In the fifth the Tiger offense kept rolling with an RBI double by Josh Holt Jr. and an RBI groundout by Chris Cornelius to put the lead up to 8-3.

The Tigers rounded out the offensive day with a run apiece in the sixth and seventh inning. In the sixth Tre Morris hit an RBI triple that scored Tony Ortiz. The seventh inning the run came through an RBI single by Peter Zimmerman that scored Thomas Broyles, to give the Tigers the eventual final 10-3.

The Tigers will wait until the weekend before they get back in action against the No. 8 LSU Tigers in a three game series at Taylor Stadium Columbia, MO.
