Wednesday, March 22—

The Mizzou Tigers softball team defeated the University of Northern Iowa Panthers Wednesday afternoon in the third and final game of the series. The Tigers asserted their dominance early and never looked back in a 6-0 victory.

The Tigers extended their now season-best eight-game winning streak.

Freshman Danielle Baumgartner earned her second consecutive complete game shutout. Her first came in the home opener March 16.

Outscoring their opponents 52-9 in the first inning so far this season, the Tigers followed the script to an early 2-0 lead in the first. Junior Chloe Rathburn crushed her team-high 37th RBI to start the Tiger scoring.

Finding success both in the batter’s box and on the base paths, the ladies drove in six runs and stole five bases altogether. This marks the eighth time the Tigers have completed such a feat this season.

The softball team will resume action Saturday, March 26 against the 27-5 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
