Mizzou women’s basketball continued its hot start to the season on Tuesday, defeating SIU Edwardsville 75-46 at Mizzou Arena. This is the third game of the season that Mizzou has won by more than 20 points.

The Tigers came out of the gates firing, as they outscored the Cougars 24-7 in the first quarter and set the tone for what would be a blowout. The second quarter saw the Tigers expand on this lead taking a 50-17 lead heading into the halftime intermission.

Mizzou used its strong bench play and three-point shooting to build its lead, making 10 threes in the first two quarters. The bench scored 26 points in first half with Morgan Stock contributing all 14 of her points in the second quarter.

The second half saw the Tigers slow it down a bit. They were outscored 29-25, but by that time the damage had already been done. The Tigers were able to walk away with another victory.

Mizzou notables included freshmen phenom Sophie Cunningham, who scored 10 points, and Kayla McDowell, who finished the game with 11 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. Mizzou was active on the boards all game, scoring 11 points on second chance opportunities.

Mizzou travels to California on Friday, Nov. 27, to play Northeastern in the first game of the Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic with tipoff set for 2 p.m.
