It was a dominating weekend for Mizzou golf in the dessert. From tee to green, the Tigers dominated the links, capturing their second championship of the season. The Tigers tallied up a score of two under par, 279-278-293 — 850 over the two day tournament in the Grand Canyon University Invitational. The Tigers finished just two strokes ahead of Pacific (852) and six strokes ahead of host Grand Canyon (856).

An impressive showing from Mizzou senior Hayden Buckley led to a three under par finish (70-69-71 — 210). Buckley finished tied for fourth overall, recording his fifth Top-5 individual finish of the 2017-18 season.

Also making his presence known was junior Matt Echelmeier who finished just two strokes behind fellow teammate Buckley, posting a total score 212 (one under par), good enough for a share of eighth place.

Not finishing in the Top-10, but just outside the top fifteen was sophomore Rory Franssen, who tied for 16th place in the tournament. Franssen finished the tournament with a two over par (215) total score. The sophomore racked up his third Top-25 individual finish and just the 10th of his career.

Also tying for 16th place was Tiger senior Trevor Ullestad, who posted a two day total of 215. Ullestad’s finish, marked the second-best of his senior season and fourth-best of his career.

Mizzou will have just one week to prepare for its next tournament in Awendaw, South Carolina, The Hootie at Bull’s Bay Tournament, scheduled to tee off on Sunday, March 25.
