Students at Mizzou filed into Memorial Union on Saturday for the 2012 Mizzou Improv Festival. Professional improv companies as well as the Improv Club at Mizzou were presenting workshops to those interested all day.
Improvisational comedy is done with little or no prepared material. It requires quick thinking and listening, and playing along with the situation.
The night was capped off by a professional show in Stotler Lounge with Cook County Social Club as the headliner. The group, out of Chicago, Illinois, have made a lot of news in the past few weeks because one of their members, Tim Robinson, is joining the cast of Saturday Night Live.
Cook County Social Club delivered a great performance as they had everyone leaving with a smile after the fifty minute show.
“It’s a riot for everyone involved,” said Brendan Jennings, a member of Cook County Social Club, after the performance. “We feed off the crowd. When they are having fun, we are having fun.”
If improv is something that suits your interests, consider joining the MU Improv club meeting every second and fourth Thursday of every month.
