On Wednesday, Mizzou faced off against the BYU Cougars on home turf at Walton Stadium. The Tigers would end up losing 3-0 after the Cougars scored two unanswered goals in the second half to ice the game. This loss marks the first home loss of the new season for the Tigers. 

In the first half, the two teams looked to be evenly matched for the first 17 minutes of the game as the two teams traded shot-for-shot. At the 11:16 mark, Cougars’s senior forward Makaylie Moore Call hit one towards goal and hit it wide left. Not even a minute later in the 12th minute, Mizzou sophomore forward Jadyn Easley had a chance to break the deadlock as she hit it for the Tiger’s first shot and missed it wide right. It was not until the 18:39 minute that Bella Folino scored a rebound goal off 

The Tigers went into halftime against the Tigers down 1-0. Even with the score being 1-0, the Cougar’s could have put the game out of reach as they shot 14 times compared to the Tiger’s four shots. 

At the start of the second half, the Cougar’s took the momentum they had in the first half and ramped it to score two more within the first eight minutes of the second half. The first goal came in the 50th minute as senior and midfielder Mikayla Colohan snuck one in with an assist from Folino to extend the Cougar’s lead to 2-0. Two minutes later in the 52.30 minute, Colohan secured a brace as she would net in her second goal of the night. 

Even though Mizzou would eventually increase the number of chances they had from four to 10 shots in the second half, they couldn’t dig themselves out of the hole as they would end up losing 3-0. 

This marks the Tiger’s fourth loss of the season as their record is now 5-4-2. The Tigers look to flip the script for their next game as they travel to South Bend, Indiana to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
