The Missouri Tigers men’s swimming team was stationed in Indianapolis this past week as three individuals competed in the USA Diving Winter National Championships.

Those three men were senior Clark Thomas, freshman Kyle Goodwin and sophomore Elliot Cecil.

The week was filled with a wide range of competition as schools like Stanford, Miami, North Carolina, and UCLA were all in attendance. Mizzou was hoping to make a strong statement.

Thomas had a strong weekend as he competed in the Senior Men 3m Springboard competition. Out of 42 entries, Thomas placed 24th with 326.90 points.

Goodwin and Cecil also contributed on the weekend with some impressive results as well. They competed together in the Synchronized Men 3m Springboard competition.

In the quarterfinals, 32 teams entered in and Goodwin/Cecil placed 12th with 285.36 points. With that 12th place finish, they entered the finals with 23 other teams. Again they placed 12th recording a score of 587.46 points.

Goodwin also competed in the Senior Men 3m Springboard competition. In the quarterfinals, he placed 29th with a score of 312.30 points but failed to move on to the finals.

While Mizzou did not dominate the competition, the trio did show some signs of potential for their young divers.

The Tigers look to continue their strong season on New Years Day in Athens, Georgia as they compete in the Georgia Diving Invite.
