After a wild year, the Mizzou cross country teams are back in action. The Tigers went off to the Commodore Classic meet in Nashville, Tennessee this past Saturday. The men’s 8 kilometer race started at 8:30am and the women 6 kilometer started at 9:15am.

Mizzou had a wonderful turnout, the Tigers finished second overall against the schools Vanderbilt, Alabama, Auburn and Kentucky, who finished in first. Mizzou with a finishing score of 42 a total time of 2:05:20 and an average of 25:04. Mizzou’s unofficial standing score for the 2440 meter was 37 and 33 for the 5240 meter.

Three of our very own tigers finished in the top five. Freshmen William Sinclair had an amazing first collegiate meet finishing in third place with an overall time of 24:37.8 only four seconds short from first place. Senior Kieran Wood finished in fifth place with an overall time of 24:54.3 and Sarah Chapman placed second with a time of 21:07.2.

The Tigers improved tremulously since last year at the Commodore Classic meet. In 2019, the ladies finished in fourth and the men finished in fifth. For the rest of the season, the Tigers will remain home, hosting two races at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course. Their next meet will be Oct. 3rd at the Gan Creek Cross Country Course which will then be followed up by the Mizzou XC Invitational on Oct. 16th.
