Mizzou overwhelms Ole Miss in Pink-Out Game

After coming off a close road loss, the Missouri women’s basketball team was able to bounce back and defeat Ole Miss 72-58. Senior Morgan Eye led the way for the Tigers with 16 points and five rebounds.

Stepping onto the court in their pink jerseys, Mizzou got off to a hot start early on and stayed that way throughout the game. Sophomore Jordan Frericks was able to score straight off of the tip, followed shortly with a three by sophomore Sierra Michaelis. The Tigers kept the momentum, stretching their lead to 21-7 at the 12-minute media timeout.

Shooting pretty in pink, the Lady Tigers knocked in 55.2 percent of their shots in the first half, with eight different players contributing.

Alongside fellow junior Maddie Stock, Michelle Hudyn led the Tigers in the first half with 8 points. She matched her career-high of 10 on the night.

The Tigers went into the locker room up 38-25.

Mizzou was able to stretch its lead to 18 at the beginning of the second half, their largest lead of the night. Ole Miss did manage to go on a 7-0 run midway through the second half, which was ended by Michaelis with another three-pointer.

Michaelis was one of three Tigers in double digits, putting up 15 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.

The Tigers’ selfless efficiency continued throughout the second half, finally ending in a 72-58 victory. Altogether, Mizzou had 14 assists and ended with a 54.2 field goal percentage.

The Lady Tigers will look to improve to 15-12 and 5-9 in the SEC next Sunday when they travel to take on Vanderbilt.
