Mizzou has recruited the quarterback that might well be Drew Lock’s successor. With Lock leaving for the NFL draft after this year, the Tigers will need a new quarterback to step in and take charge and they’ve found just the right guy for the job.

Connor Bazelak is a 3-star quarterback from Dayton, Ohio. Per Rivals, he is the 18th ranked quarterback in the Class of 2019. The Archbishop Alter quarterback chose Missouri over other schools such as Georgia, Kentucky, Iowa, and Pittsburgh. He received 25 total offers. Bazelak plays a game similar to Lock and caught the eye of new Mizzou offensive coordinator Derek Dooley. Although Alter plays in a wishbone offense, contrasting with the pro-style offense new offensive coordinator Derek Dooley runs, the Tigers coaching staff was able to see enough to excite them. One of the most notable skills he has is his downfield passing.

However, it’s easy to forget that Bazelak isn’t the only quarterback in the mix. After Lock leaves Mizzou, the competition begins between Bazelak, sophomore Micah Wilson, junior Jack Lowary, redshirt freshman Taylor Powell and sophomore Lindsey Scott Jr.

Bazelak isn’t the only recruit Mizzou pulled in. The Tigers also received a commit from in-state offensive lineman Jack Buford. Buford is a 4-star recruit from St. Louis and ranked 361st in the nation from 24/7 Sports.

A changing of the guard is evident for the Tigers after the 2018 season and Bazelak, along with Buford, seem to be the one leading that charge for 2019.
