The Mizzou Tigers (4-2-2) traveled to Orange Beach, Alabama this weekend for the SEC Soccer Tournament. With their outstanding 5-2 win the past weekend against the Florida Gators (2-7-1), the Tigers were fifth-seeded to play on Sunday, Nov. 15th.

The Tigers were matched up with the Gators again for the second round of the tournament. Mizzou took the lead in the 17’ minute with a eight yard goal from Macy Trujillo, her third goal of the season. Florida responded in the 21’ minute with a 14 yard goal from Cassidy Lindley. The first half ended with both teams being tied 1-1. The second half was a back and forth competition on defense and offense for both teams. It wasn’t until  the 72’ minute, Bella Alessi secured the victory goal for the Tigers with an assist from Macy Trujillo. Ending the match 2-1 for the Mizzou Tigers, allowing them to keep an unbeaten streak over their last five matches.

The stats were in Mizzou’s favor, with eighteen shots to Florida’s seven shots. Florida did have more saves to their goal with seven to Mizzou’s one. Mizzou dominated on corner kicks securing seven to Florida’s five. While Florida ended the game with 13 fouls compared to Mizzou with 10.

This marks their third-ever win in the conference tournament. The Tigers will face the defending tournament champions, fourth-seeded South Carolina in the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal match will take place Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 7:30 p.m. CT, streaming on the SEC Network.
