Friday Oct. 9th, the Mizzou women’s soccer team took on the Tennessee Volunteers at Regal Soccer Stadium. The Tigers never lead the game trailing the whole time. With 15 minutes left in the game the Tigers still were trailing 2-0, but got fired up as  Redshirt Junior Zoe Cross scored her first goal of her career in the 79th minute putting the Tigers on the board.

Cross’ goal was hit from 25 yards out coming from the right side at a high arch hitting cleanly in the goal with no chance of Lindsey Romig, the Tennessee goalkeeper making the stop.

Unfortunately Cross’ goal wasn’t enough to tie the game and the Tigers weren’t able to make a comeback in  the final minute of the game. The Tigers put up a good effort with 20 shots on the night, but fell short.

With 10 minutes left, Mizzou was able to get two shots, but Romig and her eight saves of the night kept the Tigers from scoring.

The Tigers had a chance to tie it in the 56th minute from a penalty kick attempted by the redshirt senior Grace Kitts, but after the kick the ball bounced off the post securing the Volunteer win.The Tigers are now 1-2 overall and 0-2 on the road. Cross finished with a goal on four shots, all in range playing 68 minutes and goalkeeper Isabella Alessio had five saves that night keeping the game close. The Tigers play next senior night Friday, Oct. 16th at 7:00p.m. against LSU.
