The Vanderbilt Commodores stunned the Mizzou Tigers last night at Vanderbilt with a 2-1 victory.

Coming off of a loss against South Carolina their last time out, the Tigers are now 0-4-1 in SEC play this season. The matchup was all Missouri at first, as the Tigers took their first lead of SEC play this season in the 50’. Madison Lewis scored her second goal of the season to give Mizzou the early 1-0 lead. She finished the night with four total shots, all of them being on goal. For the night, Mizzou had 15 shots with nine of them being on goal, however the team could only muster one goal to show for it. As for Vanderbilt, Leila Azari scored in the 58’ knotting the score at one a piece. And then in the 71’, Haley Hopkins scored for the Commodores, which proved to be all the team needed to pull off the win. For reference, Vanderbilt had 11 corner kicks to Mizzou’s 1. When having fewer kicks than the opposition, Mizzou is 1-5 this season.

As per head coach Bryan Blitz, he believed that this performance was the team’s best to date and is disappointed with the loss. Mizzou, now 6-6-1 on the year, will look to change their fortunes this Sunday versus Tennessee (8-4-1) at home. The game will start at 1pm and will be a Pink Out event.
