Mizzou visited Florida State for a two-game series this weekend and each team took home a victory. Game one took place on Friday afternoon in Tallahassee and Mizzou got off to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Hatti Moore homered to left field. FSU tacked on two runs in the third inning to take the lead when Sydney Sherrill hit an RBI groundout and Devin Flaherty stole third and then scored on a throwing error. In the top of the fourth inning, Kim Wert tied the game up with a homer to center field.

The Noles exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fifth due to an RBI flyout, another throwing error by the Mizzou defense, and a two-run homer by Elizabeth Mason. The Noles continued to pour it on in the bottom of the sixth with three more runs. An RBI groundout by Sydney Sherrill and a wild pitch allowing two runs to score sealed the deal for the Noles and they won the first game of the series 9-2. On the mound, FSU’s Danielle Watson got the win and Emma Nichols of the Mizzou Tigers got the loss.

Game two started at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday and Mizzou bounced back from the loss with six runs in the first three innings. Doubles from Cayla Kessinger and Brooke Wilmes and singles from Casidy Chaumont and Jenna Laird built that lead for the Tigers. FSU cut that lead to one as they tacked on five runs in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer from Jahni Kerr, an RBI double from Dani Morgan, and a two-run homer from Elizabeth Mason. Kim Wert hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth and Wilmes and Kessinger both drove in a run in the top of the fifth with a single and a double.

FSU failed to score after their big five-run third inning and Mizzou went on to win the game 9-5. Jordan Weber got the win on the mound for Mizzou and Emma Wilson got the loss. FSU and Mizzou are both now 3-1 on the year. FSU is back in action this Tuesday as they will host Southern Mississippi at 4 p.m. and Mizzou will travel to Waco, Texas next weekend for the Getterman Classic.
