The Tigers softball team faced off against their toughest opponent to date in the third ranked UCLA Bruins on Sunday. The game was close throughout, but Mizzou could never get the offense to click and ended up with a 4-0 loss. They are now 10-7 on the year.

Amanda Sanchez continued to lead the charge offensively, picking up two more hits to bring her average to .528 on the year. Freshman Brooke Wilmes also picked up a pair of hits but the team could never string them together to push a run across. Rachel Garcia and Kylee Perez each picked up multiple hits and an RBI to put the Bruins in front for good.

Lauren Rice has pitched her fair share of the big games already this season and Sunday was no different. She gave up only two earned runs in 5 innings of work but struggled to miss bats, failing record a strikeout in that time. Eli Daniel finished off the afternoon with a scoreless final frame. Holly Azevedo and Rachel Garcia were the duo of pitchers responsible for cooling the Tiger bats. Garcia couldn’t be contained on either end. She started as the DP and then came in to pitch in the fourth inning and earned her sixth win on the year.

Mizzou will have a bit of a break before they play their home opener on Friday against SE Louisiana.
