Wednesday, April 22—

Behind a dominant relief performance by freshman pitcher Paige Lowary, the No. 15 Missouri Tigers softball team dominated the Iowa Hawkeyes, 10-2, in six innings.

With the win, Mizzou clinched their seventh straight win and fourth straight game of run-ruling their opponents. They have outscored the opposition 73-10 in the seven game win streak.

Junior Taylor Gadbois led the Tigers at the plate, going 4-4 with four stolen bases.

She moved up to fourth place on Mizzou’s career stolen base list with 82 steals nad has 30 stolen bases on the year.

Starting pitcher Tori Finucane ran into trouble early in the first inning for Missouri, allowing two earned runs on one hit and two walks.

The Tigers answered back in the bottom of the first off with an RBI double by junior Sami Fagan, which allowed Gadbois to score the first run.

With the double, Fagan had reached base in 29 consecutive games. The Tigers added two more runs to take a 3-2 lead off a base hit from senior Corrin Genovese and an Iowa error.

Missouri stretched the lead to 5-2 in the fifth when sophomore Kirsten Mack launched a two-run home run.

Mack leads the team with 12 dingers this year. Senior Kelsea Roth added another run with an RBI double, making the Tigers lead 6-2.

In the sixth inning, an error at shortstop caused Gadbois to score, then freshman Amanda Sanchez smacked a two-RBI base hit to right field.

Roth added another RBI base hit to drive in Sanchez to clinch the run-rule victory in six innings.

The victory improved Mizzou’s overall record to 32-10.

Up next for the Tigers is Missouri State on Thursday. The first pitch will be at 5 at p.m.
