Missouri Softball hosted Jefferson College in their final two games of the fall season on Friday. Missouri beat Jefferson College 7-0 at University Field.

Junior Cheyenne Baxter started on the mound for the Tigers and got off to a great start by striking out the side in the first inning. In the second inning, Mizzou recorded two quick outs, but then rallied to score four runs. Redshirt sophomore Madi Norman got it started with a double to right field then advanced to third on an error by the catcher. A string of singles from Cosette Tomita, Braxton Burnside, Regan Nash, Amanda Sanchez and Rylee Pierce scored all four runs.

In the top of the fourth, sophomore Raime Cohen started off the inning with a single to center field, advancing on a wild pitch and then a fielder’s choice. Sophomore Regan Nash would score the run on an RBI ground out. Junior Amanda Sanchez would ground out to short to end the inning.

Starting pitcher Cheyenne Baxter pitched four shutout innings, tallying eight strikeouts and only giving up two hits before being taken out by head coach Ehren Earleywine. Sophomore Danielle Baumgartner from Mexico, Missouri, came on and pitched the rest of the game giving up only two hits in three innings and tallying three strikeouts.

In the seventh inning, the Tigers scored two more runs off the bats of freshman right fielder Cayla Kessinger and pinch hitter Kirsten Mack.

It was an impressive night from centerfielder Regan Nash, who finished the game two for four on two hits and two RBIs. First basemen Amanda Sanchez also played well with two hits and a run scored. Baumgartner shut out the Jefferson College Vikings to record the save.

Missouri Softball ends the fall season with a perfect 8-0 record. The Tigers will now have to prepare for the upcoming spring season and look to get off to a hot start at their new softball stadium east of the Hearnes Center.
