Mizzou tennis moved to 6-2 on the season after going 1-1 at their doubleheader on Sunday. The Tigers lost their first match to Old Dominion University, but turned it around against Bradley University.

The Tigers dropped their first doubles point of the season against Old Dominion. At the number two spot, Mizzou’s Vivien Ábrahám and Ellie Wright fell to Old Dominion’s Shahar Biran and Alexandra Viktorovic by a score of 6-4. At the number three spot, Old Dominion’s Holly Hutchinson and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya defeated Mizzou’s Marta Oliveira & Elys Ventura 6-2. Mizzou’s number one doubles team of No. 58 Serena Nash and Gabrielle Goldin were upsetting Old Dominion’s team of No. 10 Yulia Starodubtseva and Alesya Yakubovich by a score of 5-3 when doubles play was halted.

Singles did not go much better for the Tigers as Old Dominion won three straight singles matches to clinch the victory. Old dominion’s Alesya Yakubovich defeated Vivien Ábrahám 6-4, 6-0 at the number three singles spot. That was followed up by Marta Oliveira losing to Alexandra Viktorovic by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. The final nail in the coffin was the loss at the number two spot as Mizzou’s Ellie Wright fell to No. 107 Yulia Starodubtseva 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Tigers proved to have a short memory as they quickly turned around from their loss to Old Dominion University to defeat Bradley University.

Things started off well for Mizzou in doubles as the number one and three doubles teams won quite swiftly. The team of No. 58 Serena Nash and Gabrielle Goldin quickly defeated Sandra Maletin and Natalia Barbery 6-0. The number three doubles team of Lisa Fukutoku and Elys Ventura did not have many more issues as they defeated V Sanchex Bronzetti & Nina Marjanovic by a score of 6-1 to secure the doubles point for the Tigers.

Excellent play continued into singles as Lisa Fukutoku defeated Bradley’s V Sanchez Bronzetti 6-3, 6-3 at the number four spot. At the number three spot, Mizzou’s Vivien Ábrahám defeated Natalia Barbery from Bradley by a score of 6-4, 7-5. To ice the win for the Tigers, Ellie Wright came back from a tough second set loss to pull a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win over Bradley’s Bozana Lojpur.

Next, Mizzou will host Southeast Missouri State University for a doubleheader on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. CT and 3:00 P.M. CT.
