The Mizzou Men’s and Women’s Swim & Dive teams both squared off against in-state opponent Missouri State last Saturday in Springfield. In just the second head-to-head matchup and first away meet, both the men’s and women’s teams dominated Missouri State, as the men finished with a 166.5-70.5 win, while the women posted a 160-73 victory.

During the meet, the Tigers set eight pool records at the Hammonds Student Center in Springfield, including a 1:46.06 time from sophomore Danny Kovac in the men’s 200 IM, which ranks as the fastest time in the nation so far this season. Other notable performances during the meeting included freshman Carlo Lopez’s impressive 400.28 point performance on the 3-meter springboards, another pool record and fifth-best performance in Mizzou school history, as well as two victories for freshman Meredith Rees in the women’s 50 free (23.43) and 100 free (50.68). Senior Caleb Hicks and sophomore Sarah Rousseau would also notch two victories in their respective events. The Tigers would go on to sweep all 26 events in the meet, capping off a dominant performance from both teams.

The Tigers look to build off their exceptional performance, as both teams head to Lexington, KY this week to face off against the SEC opponent Kentucky Wildcats, as well as North Carolina State and Arkansas (Women only), for a two-day event. The meet starts Thursday and concludes Friday morning.
