Mizzou Swim Takes the Pool with SEC Foes

The pool was primed for action as both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were in action over the weekend. The men opened opened up action against South Carolina. The match came down to the final team relay, where Mizzou was able to pull it off. The team of Mikel Schreuders, Giovanny Lima, Sam Coffman, and Alex Moore had a time of 2:59.60. The men won their match as a whole by a score of 154-144

The winners of the day for the men in the 200 Medley Relay was Daniel Hein, Caleb Hicks, Micah Slaton, and Luke Mankus with a time of 1:24.09. The Men’s 200 Freestyle was captured by Giovanny Lima with a 1:36.80. Daniel Hein won the Men’s 100 Back 49.44. He also won Men’s 200 back with a time of 1:49.19. The Men’s 1-Meter Dive went to Kyle Goodwin with a score of 335.40. The 100 Fly was taken home by Micah Slaton, with a time of 48.53.

The women’s team also took on South Carolina, but with the addition of Arkansas. The women did not see the same outcome, however, and they fell to South Carolina by a score of 172-129 and Arkansas by 167-133. The Tigers did manage a couple of good performances. Hannah Stevens won the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.57 and Annie Ochitwa won the women’s 50 free with a time of 23.07.

The Tiger’s next meet is in Carbondale, Illinois November 3rd and 4th against Kentucky and host Southern Illinois.
